Tia Blouse Sewing Pattern (PDF)
A go-to wardrobe staple
The clean and simple lines of the Tia Blouse make it a versatile wardrobe workhorse.

A tee for all occasions
A woven tee is one of those underrated pieces in one’s wardrobe that can quickly become a go-to piece. The Tia Blouse can be as noticeable as you choose to make it! Go with View A in a classic neutral shade for an understated basic tee, or make View B in a bold statement fabric for a tee that turns heads!

Difficulty/skill level:
Recommended fabrics:
Medium weight viscose/rayon, Tencel (TM), cupro, linen, chambray and similar blends. The sleeves of view B are well suited to slightly more structured fabrics such as chambray, linen and cotton.
Size ranges:
6-20 (B cup) and 16-30 (D cup)

Curious about our samples?:
Michelle’s bust measurement falls in between two sizes; she sized down for her View A sample and sized up for her View B sample. Although her waist and hips fall into larger sizes than her bust, she sewed a straight size without grading because there is plenty of ease through the waist. Michelle raised the bust dart by 1″ / 2.5cm and narrowed the shoulders by 1/2″ / 1.2cm, both of which are adjustments she usually has to make with sewing patterns.
Our gorgeous model has a 5″ difference between her high bust and bust measurements, so she could have selected the recommended size for her high bust measurement from our D-cup range and done a 1″ FBA. However, because of the loose fit she decided to sew the recommended size for her high bust measurement and not do an FBA. She also narrowed the shoulders by 3/8″ / 1cm and raised the bust dart by 1/2″/1.2cm. Again, these are common adjustments for her in her sewing practice.
The lovely fabric used for our View A samples was supplied free of charge by Sister Mintaka. It is the ‘Seaweed’ colour way of their viscose linen noil, and we can tell you that as well as having that beautiful colour it is delightfully soft, presses nicely whilst sewing and makes a super comfy Tia! The other fabrics came from our stashes.

michellesews_patterns into the Fold (Line)!
Michelle puts on focus on wardrobe staples, so they are designs you will make again and again!
The Tia blouse is a truly versatile woven tee pattern that you can make over and over. We loooooove the simplicity of view A which is a staple blouse, and view B gives us all the drama we desire with the gathered, puff sleeve and cuff 🤩
Do you go for staples ⬅️or ➡️ drama 🤔

Here’s one from my #makenine2022 that I finished about a month ago. It’s the #msp_tia blouse. The pattern came with #simplysewingmag and I made it using this lovely soft drapey peachskin from fabricgodmother. It’s hard to tell but there’s glittery gold flecks all over which I love. I sized up the sleeve by 3 sizes to make them a bit more dramatic and I’m really pleased with the result.
I took this photo at half past midnight after a evening out so I’m looking a little creased and tired . This is the Tia Blouse from Michelle Sews Patterns. I love the big sleeves and I even did buttonholes on the deep 3 button cuffs. The buttonholes are acceptable but could be better but as I already have another cut out I will be getting some more practice.

PHEW I did it!!! I'm so happy I was able to make something in time for the #BHMPatternDesigners (BHM=Black History Month) challenge! It's been a while since I actually made something for a challenge and this one was important to me but I didn't know if I'd be able to get anything done in time due to multiple other things I had going on this month. Anyhow, I had a great time discovering new Black pattern designers when researching pattern designers for this challenge (thanks for the list, sewnaturaldane!) and ended up using a pattern from michellesews_patterns. I doubled down on this challenge by pairing it with fabric from my stash designed by a Black textile designer, iamrashidacolemanhale. That’s right!! I'm in it to win it!
I am delighted with the way this turned out. As is often the case with my makes, I was working with a limited amount of fabric and had to make some compromises but in the end I like how they made this garment unique. The sleeves are a little bit shorter and thus less billowy and have smaller cuffs than the pattern calls for. You can also see some of the selvedges at the end of the sleeves– I used every bit of fabric I could. I am planning to wear this to the office and large sleeves get in the way of what I do so this actually works for me. I didn't have enough fabric for a full back piece so I added some gray fabric to compensate and I quite like how it frames the back. I did my usual adjustments of lowering the armhole and adjusting the sleeve. I also added almost 1" in length to it. I used 3 ragtag colorful buttons and I love how they all coordinate. Thank you to the challenge ambassadors divinedita crystalsewsandstuff and crumpetsteaandsewing and to host sewnaturaldane!!

We focus on quality
Michelle Sews patterns are made with you in mind. Qualified and experienced industry professionals have been involved at key stages including the pattern drafting, grading, editing and graphics design. Of course, our bodies are unique and it’s rare for a sewing pattern to fit without needing any alterations at all, so we still aim to provide enough guidance to help you fit your Tia blouse. Above all, with every pattern, the objective is to make it a pattern that you’ll want to return to again and again – a ‘TNT’ (tried and true) pattern for YOU.
The Tia Blouse was drafted and graded by professional pattern makers and graders. Our two size ranges were drafted and graded from completely separate ‘base’ sizes.
Our patterns are fit tested on fit models in the base size for each size range before being graded to other sizes – this picture was taken at our first fitting of the Tia blouse!
