Day 6 (and by the way, only doing it for one week this year is a stroke of genius! I think I’m going to complete a daily post challenge! 🤸🏾‍♂️) - View: I mentioned a few days ago that I’m slowly setting up my sewing room/study, but I already have a favourite corner. I know that this is the view that will inspire me and make me smile because already my eyes are drawn to it whenever I enter the room. The quote is my sewing mantra at the moment, taken from a poem by Marianne Williamson: “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. Day 5 (Repeat): By far my most repeated pattern is my very own @pearsonandpope #ppagnes skirt. There’s a reason I drafted it - for me, it is my go-to work skirt. I still haven’t made a plain black one, and I have a couple of skirt lengths of lovely tweeds waiting to be made up too, so my collection will continue to grow! From a sustainable sewing perspective, too, these are the handmade items that are always on repeat in my wardrobe rotation. Day 4 (The Best): I know I’ve picked out these four before, because I had this collage in my phone photos already, but they really are four special makes for me. In each case I had a design idea that I wasn’t entirely sure about, and I had a lot of doubts about what I was doing, along the way, but I really loved the end result. That feeling when you’ve sewn the last stitch and you feel super accomplished, like you could take on the world?! For me, that’s the best bit of sewing. #bpsewvember2019 #sewing

Day 3 - Sewing space: until about six weeks ago, my sewing space was at the dining table. However, I’m fortunate to be in the process of converting our spare box bedroom into a small sewing room/study. I haven’t made much progress beyond painting the walls an ombré white with pale pink, and putting up some shelves, but I love it already. I’m taking my time to work out how I want to organise and store things, so it probably won’t be “finished” this side of Christmas, but I can live with that. #bpsewvember2019 #sewingspace

This has to be my final post of the day, four is way out there for me! But, in order to catch up.. #bpsewvember2019 Day 2 - Treasure: As you can see, I really couldn’t pick one. Naturally my first choice would have been my little family, but in a sewing context I’d say I treasure: 1) My machine, of course. 2) My fabric stash, 3) My reference books/gadgets/patterns and 4) The Instagram sewing community, which has been not only a source of inspiration and advice but has led me to meet dear friends that I can WhatsApp any time of the day or night for bantz about books, sewing, Netflix shows, runway fashion, office politics and everything in between! Thank you ladies 😘
