I am SO glad for the interlining I added to this @sewoveritlondon #soicocooncoat now that London has Frozen. (Old picture - my garden is a snow-filled wasteland right now and the outside world will not be seeing my legs again until it’s at least ten degrees warmer than today!) . #imadethis #soishowoff #isew #sewing #sewcialists #dressmaking #seamstress #lovesewing #isewmyownclothes #imakemyownclothes #diyfashion #slowfashion #handmadecoat
Yay, happy mail day! Great timing as I can squeeze in some reading before I head back to work. I am such a bookworm - my approach to sewing and drafting has 100% been informed by reading around the subject. I read blogs, read textbooks, take Craftsy courses and watch you tube tutorials. I even have Kindle versions of some sewing books so I can refresh my memory on my commute if I’m working on something complicated. The new additions to my library: 1. @kennethdking’s fitting book. I love how Kenneth explains things in a very practical way, in his Craftsy courses, and usually with quite unique methods that he has developed through his formidable experience. 2. “Sewing for Plus sizes” - I‘m just curious to see what alterations, tips and methods are focused on. The styling looks a little dated(!) but I’m sure there is a wealth of useful information to be gleaned from the book. 3. Because I’m a sucker for a good pattern drafting/cutting textbook 🤣 . #sewingtextbook #alwayslearning #growth #proudbookworm 🤓
On the blog: made some culottes! Office appropriate, of course. And boy am I glad I photographed them yesterday because today it’s absolutely freezing!! 🥶🥶🥶 Back to work tomorrow and wondering whether I can squeeze in another quick project today... 🤔 . #v9302 #handmadeculottes #sewcialist #sewingaddict #handmadeworkwear #isew #slowfashion #sewingblogger @sewingbloggers
Reposting from @pearsonandpope (@get_repost) ・・・ On the blog today: my thoughts on inclusive sizing and plans for Pearson and Pope. I have been reading a lot of the comments and blog posts this week and it has taken me a while to put into words my thoughts, as someone who has so recently launched her own sewing patterns. . . . #sewinclusive #inclusivesizing
A day off work means a rare visit to my local fabric shop, yay! Found some gems in the suiting section, now cooking up plans... 🤓💃🏾 . #sewing #fabric #sewcialist #isew
The #brightsewing tag has reminded me that I am 100% determined to copy this jumpsuit that I made for my sister in 2017, this time for myself! She picked the colour and described what she wanted, and I hacked two patterns together! She lives several hours away from me (😫) so we weren’t really able to do any fittings until the day she wanted to pick it up, and I remember stressing about whether the end result would be ok. But she was happy with it, and all ended well, phew! #gonnacopythat #becauseicansew @pinkcoatclub @theunfinishedseamstress
