Happy New Year! Super excited to kick off 2023 by announcing that we’re going to be at The Stitch Festival in March!
The Stitch Festival is a fantastic annual dressmaking and sewing (and knitting!) event that allows you to see loads of your favourite independent brands and small business (now including us, for the first time!) under one massive roof. As well as displays/stands from these brands, there are workshops, Q&A sessions, demos, catwalk shows and more!
If you’re coming to the show, please do drop by Michelle Sews at stand H76 – near the catwalk on the main floor. We’ll be selling printed patterns and beautiful fabrics (most of which are not yet listed on the website!), and – all being well – we’ll have the big reveal of our next pattern!
Tickets for the show are on sale NOW, and you can save £2.00 on entry tickets until 22 March, by using the discount code* MICHELLESEWS. Get your ticket at @thestitchfestival website today! (T&Cs in comments below).
We think @couturious chose the perfect fabric for this Effie dress. Sam is a super stylish teacher, and if you haven’t yet come across her content on planning and sewing a capsule wardrobe that works for you (i.e. not just the typical “here’s a list of things that make up a great capsule wardrobe) then do head over to her account!

*** NEW PATTERN RELEASE ***
The Agnes Skirt pattern is out now!
We’ve had a little website drama this afternoon (I’d love to think that too many of you were trying to check out Agnes at the same time 😂) but hopefully it’s all good now. And if you head over to have a look you’ll be able to see the additional product launch I’ve been mysteriously referencing. One clue… it involves fabric! 🥰
UPDATE: If you have previously purchased a copy of this pattern, you will have received an email regarding your free copy of the upgraded pattern files. (This does not extend to those who have obtained a free copy during previous promotions. Thank you for your understanding). To find out more about what has been updated, check out the Errata/Updates page (under the Info menu) on our website.

If you’ve been around for a while you probably know that the Agnes Skirt was actually the first pattern I ever released, and it was based on a skirt I drafted for myself because I couldn’t find an indie pattern for a pencil skirt which had all the features I wanted. A back vent (not slit), with full lining. A zip shield (because tell me I’m not the only one who has snagged tights on a zip when rushing to get ready?!). Pocket options, because I’ll take being able to shove my work pass in my pocket over the conventional wisdom that pockets ruin the line of a pencil skirt. And of course, I wanted it to look beautiful on the inside.
I’ve made countless Agnes Skirts since then and my top tip for ultimate Agnes satisfaction is to choose a complementary set of main fabric, lining and bias binding. It never fails! Let the colours of your lining and bias accentuate some of the colours in your main fabric, if it is a print, or add a pop to a classic plain main fabric, and I bet you will smile every time you come to put on your skirt. I look forward to seeing some of your choices!

It’s almost time! Our Agnes Skirt pattern will be available again from 2pm tomorrow.
To celebrate the re-release there will be 10% off the pattern until midnight on 31st August (this applies automatically on the website). However, newsletter subscribers will also be receiving a discount code tomorrow for a greater discount – so if you’re not already a subscriber, do sign up at the bottom of the homepage! (And if you’ve missed out, why not sign up now for next time!)
Oh, and the pattern itself isn’t all… watch this space for an exciting further announcement! 👀🥳💃🏾
