Agnes Skirt PDF sewing pattern

£16.00

The pencil skirt pattern of my dreams… The Agnes skirt is a truly professional pencil skirt sewing pattern. Fully lined? Check. Back vent? Check. Pretty insides? Of course. It’s a work wardrobe staple you’ll come back to over and over again.

Features

  • Fully lined, with a back vent, zip shield and a bias bound inner waistband.
  • View A features diagonal side pockets. View B is a streamlined version without pockets.

Fabric & notions

I’d recommend medium/skirt weight wool, tweed, crepe, linen, cotton and stretch blends of the same.

You’ll need:

  • Bias binding for the inside waistband (the length of the finished garment waist for your size, from the Garment Waist measurement in the table, plus 4”/10cm)
  • Skirt bar and hook for the waistband
  • 8” concealed zip

Difficulty / instructions

This is an intermediate sewing pattern. But if you’re a confident beginner, check out the video snippets (and the sew along) which may help you with your Agnes – some of my lovely testers were confident beginners!

The step by step instructions include plenty of photos too!

Measurements

Please see the table below for body measurement and finished garment measurement details.

The pattern testers said…

“I love the fit! … Overall, it’s a great piece to sew. It was very satisfying and I already have plans for another one.”

“I want to let you know that the fit is PERFECT! I didn’t need to make a single modification. It’s giving me a great hourglass figure and it looks so luxe in the cream wool double cloth I chose.”

“I love this pattern. It is so intuitively made, easy to adjust if you’re in between sizes, transferring it to the fabric was easy, the instructions were clear, easy for a confident beginner as well!”

“Overall I found it a really good, and reasonably quick sew for something so smart! Was really nice to sew and the instructions were clear…”

“The instructions alone are a cut above the rest. You also teach your customers how to finish the skirt in such a way, that they end up with a very professional looking garment.”

“As someone who has been sewing for a while, you taught me some new sewing techniques (waistband with bias binding, zip shield) that I haven’t seen before!”

“This is the best fitting pencil skirt in my life!”

“Can’t wait to make more.”

@frugalisama’s combination of the #msp_agnes skirt with the #msp_martha top has me like 😍😍😍 – love it!!! Thank you for the lovely feedback, too, Sam!
Do check out Sam’s original post as she also made a lovely matching jacket from the linen!

I made a jacket this weekend (New Look 6351) inspired by last weeks #greatbritishsewingbee2020. Obviously it’s not got the huge shoulder pads of the 80s but very similar otherwise, made from a piece of linen bought at Abakhan last year, which I also made the pencil skirt from that I’m wearing, which is the Agnes pattern by @michellesews_patterns formerly Pearson & Pope.
I noticed earlier this week that she had rebranded & wanted to give her a shout out as this is a beautifully drafted fully lined skirt with some lovely details, including pockets & a zip shield. The top is the Martha, also by @michellesews_patterns & another great well written pattern.
Who else is looking forward to international week on the 🐝 tonight? #gbsb2020 #sewingbee #sewistsofinstagram #sewersofinstagram #memade #sewcialists #handmadewardrobe #sewingismysuperpower #isew #makersmovement #makedontbuy #lovesewing #sewing #sewsewsew #memadeeveryday #sewover50 #sewingchallenge #so50blog #so50reworn #b37w32h40

Some handmade gifts for my lovely Mum 😊 I let her choose the patterns and fabric, so this is a very bespoke present!

The blouse is New Look #6598 in a very light cotton viscose from fabriclanduk. I altered the sleeve length as she prefers a 3/4 length, and added an extra button as 4 didnt quite seem enough!

The skirt is the #AgnesSkirt by pearsonandpope and is made in a navy chambray from minervadotcom. Its fully lined and I left out the pockets as Mum isn’t really a pockets kind of person!

Now all I can hope is that it fits, as I only had her measurements to go off and no fitting opportunities!

This #msp_agnes skirt in a grey wool suiting goes with so many things in my wardrobe that I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve worn it. You really can’t go wrong with a classic pencil skirt!

@thanks_imadeitmyself made this gorgeous outfit for her mum, which includes a chambray #msp_agnes skirt, and I for one am suddenly feeling rather guilty for not having made anything for my mum lately 🤣
