- Sewing a hidden button placket.
- Sewing and attaching a shirt collar.
- Attaching a back yoke and yoke facing.
- Sewing buttonholes and buttons.

Recommended fabrics:
Medium/dress weight viscose/rayon, crepe, linen, cotton and chambray. Choose a lightweight or medium weight interfacing suitable for your chosen fabric.

These size ranges are based on different body proportions and bust cup sizes, but for the same height of 5’6″. Our 6-20 size range is drafted for a sewists’ B cup, which means a difference of 2″ / 5 cm between your high bust and your full bust measurements. Our 16-30 size range is drafted for a sewists’ D cup, which means a difference of 4″ / 10 cm between your high bust and your full bust measurements. (In sewing terms, your cup size may differ from the cup size you would buy in stores!).
For this pattern, please choose the pattern size for which the Bust measurement is nearest to your full bust measurement, and if that is a size between 16 and 20 (inclusive), use your high bust measurement to select the appropriate size range to purchase.
Finished garment measurements and intended fit
The Effie Shirt Dress is semi-fitted but with a boxy fit through the waist, which is designed to be cinched with a belt, and has a below-knee length. There is roughly 5-6″ (13-15 cm) ease at the bust, 12.5″-15″ (32-38 cm) ease at the waist, and 4.5-5″ (11-12 cm) at the hip.
Choose the pattern size for which the Bust measurement in the table is closest to your full bust measurement, then grade up or down between sizes to suit your waist and seated hip measurements.

- PDF: A downloadable PDF file containing the instructions booklet and your pattern pieces. Pattern piece files are provided in the following formats:
- A4/US Letter size for printing at home. The 6-20 size range requires 40 pages. The 16-30 size range requires 52 pages.
- Copyshop/A0 format for printing at a copy shop which handles large format printing. The 6-20 size range requires 3 A0 sheets. The 16-30 size range requires 4 A0 sheets.
- Paper: A printed pattern folder containing your pattern pieces printed onto large sheets of tissue paper, and an A5 instructions booklet.
